High scoring rugby league action lit up Otumoetai's Mitchell Park over the weekend - but unfortunately it wasn't the Otumoetai Eels that came out on the right side of the ledger.
Round five of the Bay of Plenty/Coastline Premiership saw the Eels host the Pacific Sharks in a top-of-the-table clash.

The Eels were coming off a 32-22 loss to the Pikiao Warriors the previous weekend, and would have been eager to make amends.
But after brushing aside their opening four opponents, the Sharks continued their dominant form, running in nine tries to the Eels' three for a 44-14 win.
Trailing 20-6 at the break, the Eels would have felt like they could still turn the deficit around, only for the visitors to run in a further 24 points.
The loss see the Eels drop to third on the ladder, with Taupo Phoenix's 20-16 win against Pikiao Warriors moving them up a place. Both sides have lost two matches and are two points clear of fourth-placed Mangakino Hawks.
The Eels premier reserves didn't fare much better, falling to the Sharks 50-32 – a result that leaves them in fifth place with a solitary win. The Sharks are also unbeaten in the reserve grade.
Across town in the Bay of Plenty/Coastline Division One, the Papamoa Bulldogs secured their first win of the season, beating Tauhara Te Maunga 44-24.
Heading into the match both sides were without a win, but Papamoa have now moved off the bottom of the table.
Next weekend Otumoetai Eels host Taupo Phoenix, while the Papamoa Bulldogs must travel to Tokoroa to take on the Forestland Falcons.
