Amidst the appeals for Tauranga slogan ideas, first asked for in The Weekend Sun Roger's Rabbits column, a range of songs have appeared.

While a full song is no slogan, they could be considered as an accompaniment to whichever one is best.

Pete and Derna Bennett have composed this song for Tauranga.

'The range of ideas received is impressive and I'm enjoying seeing how passionate people are about their city.

'Having people go the extra mile and write a song, record it and then post it to the internet is just brilliant.

'Such efforts make you realise how proud the people in Tauranga are and how they feel there is great value in having things like slogans.”

Brian is keen for people to continue sending their ideas in and is impressed by the rationale some people have provided for their suggestions.

'Hopefully we can choose a slogan that encompasses the great community spirit we have here in Tauranga.

'As for the songs, keep writing them and if you're brave enough to perform there on video, then send it in and we can post it on SunLive."
