Around 200 Year Six boys and girls (10 years) from 20 schools across New Zealand took part in the fifth annual tournament.

Te Akau Ki Papamoa won the EastPack Baywide Rippa Rugby World Cup held at Paengaroa back in May to successfully qualify for the tournament.

General Manager Provincial Union and Community Rugby Brent Anderson says the tournament was a wonderful success and praised everyone involved for helping create a positive, fun event.

'The Rippa Rugby World Cup is a special event. It brings kids from all over New Zealand together to be competitive, have fun and be part of a team. This year the opportunity to represent a country from the Rugby World Cup is a way of bringing Kiwi kids closer to the tournament on the other side of the world.

'These kids have played their hearts out and will be going home with some fantastic memories and a love of sport. They have represented their schools, provinces and the Rugby World Cup nation they played for with bucket loads of pride and a lot of heart.”
