Emergency servives are responding to a large scrub fire which is brewing in Te Puke this afternoon.

It is unclear at this stage what has started the fire.

A Northern Fire Communications spokesperson says the fire is around 30m by 40m in size and firefighters are attacking it with two low pressure delivery systems.

Additional support has also been called for.
