Happy Days keeps sun smiling

Katikati's Diggelmann Park, on the main street of town, has so far seen 80 classic cars and a few motorbikes, arrive for Happy Days car show.

Now in its sixth year most vehicles on show in the park are owned by local enthusiasts, but some come from far, far away.

Most cars present are US made, Chevvies and Fords being the most popular makes people invest in, but there are also motorbikes, Harleys especially. There are Australian made cars as well as vintage models. 'Any cool car is welcome, we're not biased,” says organiser Katrina Nikora.

'The park on Main Street is an excellent venue, everyone can see us and there is plenty of room,” says Katrina.

The general public can vote for their favourite car in the people's choice award. The winners at the show will get a trophy and any money collected at the gate will go to Katikati's Maori Wardens.

'We're glad the weather is holding,” says Katrina. The event is on until 2 pm.
