It was the battle of the biceps to see who would take out the title as the Bay of Plenty's strongest man.

In his first New Zealand competition, Australian-based Eddie Williams bested 13 other competitors to take home the title at the Tauranga A&P Show on the weekend.

The 177kg behemoth recorded one of the fastest runs of all time in the farmers walk, carrying 200kg 50 meters in 18.87 seconds, says Matt Rossiter who was photographing the event.

'His consistency over the day, recording two firsts and two 3rds in the four events, allowed him to place ahead of the current NZ Strongest Man title holder Mathew Ragg.”

Eddie had this to say on a profile page on picbear.com:

”Managed to take out the Bay of Plenty strongest man first nz comp and I managed to take first place S/o to my family for always being right by my side cheering me on. Also like to thank @afaesepaea who's been coaching me that's last 4 weeks while I've been here in New Zealand and the pit family would like to thank my sponsors @im.gym And @flatoutchickensandkebabs for the support and also to @doom_squad_powerlifting_ for the help with conditioning.”
