- The upgraded water main in Bureta is operational. Finishing work is underway for the footpath and roading in Vale Street.
- Valve maintenance is currently underway in the CBD and is soon to begin in Greerton and the Avenues. This involves repainting valve covers and ensuring the valves are in working order.
- No pollution incidents reported this week.

- A large dead gum tree and a pine tree are to be removed in Johnson Reserve in the middle of next week. They are at the southern end of the reserve and the works will require the Endeavour Heights walking track to be closed for the day.

Mauao Track closures
Posted on 26-09-2011 16:49 | By Adrian Muller
With the news that Waikorire Track will have closures, I would like to say that I was naughty the other day, and went around the fences blocking Oruahine track, to see why it was closed. I got angrier and angrier as I traversed this. There is hardly ANYTHING wrong with the track. It is what it was like up to about 5 years ago. I took lots of photos of what apprear to be minor damage, where one may need to walk single file for a total of about three metres. The 4 wheel drive track is MUCH MORE likely to see people slip on the loose gravel. ALSO: Why was there nobody at all fixing up the track. I reckon a group of volunteers with barrows could fix it up in half a day. I met lots of local people also using Oruahine, and ALL of them say it is completely ridiculuous that the track is closed off, and they will ignore it.

But they really consume money, ratepayers money! Why was this not done at the same time as the so called "repairs" from flood damage not all that long ago. Talk about time wasters and drama queens as well as obscene money wasters.
