Drivers pursuing the best petrol price in Tauranga would be well-advised to go to either of the Gull stations on Hewletts Road.
That's where they'll find petrol at almost 30 cents cheaper than some competitors.
The price at these Gull stations is currently $1.73 a litre for petrol, and 99 cents a litre for diesel – more than 20 cents cheaper than competing stations on the same stretch of road.
Mobil Chapel Street caused a frenzy yesterday evening when they dropped their price to $1.76 per litre for petrol, but when SunLive visited today, the price was up again to $1.96.
Petrol recently broke the $2 per litre mark at several stations around the city, with BP Summit, Z 11th Ave, and Mobil Cameron Road all offering the product for $2.02 per litre.
Diesel also has a 35 cent price difference between some stations, with drivers paying as little as 99 cents a litre at Gull, or $1.34 a litre at some Z, Mobil, and BP stations.

A Simple Question

So here is a simple question - How can some suppliers sell the fuel cheaper than others? Are their running costs that much lower? Are they making a loss? (doubt it) Oh wait, perhaps they are just gauging? As a regular consumer I would love to know.
