Rough weather has caused ‘significant widening' of the cracks on Rena, says Maritime New Zealand.
Since the ships grounding on Astrolabe Reef on October 5, salvage operations have been hampered by bad weather, with this latest round putting more stress on the damaged ship.

MNZ says there is now very little holding the ship together.
National on-scene commander Mick Courtnell says cracks midway along the hull are now significant splits.
Yesterday the ship was battered by four to five metre swells.
Mick says the forward part of the ship is firmly wedged on the reef while the stern has been trying to tear itself free.
He says there is still no evidence to confirm the vessel has split in two.
A fly-over inspection of the ship yesterday revealed more oil had leaked and another container had fallen off.
Svitzer spokesperson Brian Dale says while the majority of the oil has been removed off the ship, there is still a small amount of oil in the hold.
He says salvors will skim the oil off once they are able to get back to work.

BOW STUCK

I would compare the RENA to TCC with the following thoughts: The snout is firmly affixed regardless of the weather, it doesn't matter how much showing off is done by wiggling your backside your fate is sealed, it takes to long and costs to much everything you do, they take what is yours to pay for what is theirs, they take what is yours to pay for fixing up their mess, top heavy there, top heavy here, despite all the promises the messes just keep coming, the circling sharks as always get the best of it then and later they just dont miss out either way, what ever they do or don't achieve they get paid and the price is huge, everone else pays.

Bow struck ,you got it so right. I will never never vote for anyone for the next council who was born and bred here. They just can't see past the fact that Tauranga is no longer a retirement village and should be a progressive city
