Convicted murderer Dean Wickliffe is facing another term of imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.
The offence was committed while he was on parole – just seven months after he was released from prison to live in his Maketu home.
It was in his home that he manufactured the methamphetamine.
He entered the guilty plea in the Tauranga District Court on Wednesday and will return there next month for sentencing.
When the drug charge was laid the parole board recalled Wickliffe saying it had 'no option” due to the charge he faced.
It had earlier released him on parole from his prison term for killing Wellington jeweller Paul Miet during an armed robbery in 1972.
At the Parole Board hearing Wickliffe stated that financial hardship was the reason for manufacturing the drug.

I guess after being in prison for so long, budgeting would not be one of your strong points...
