SunLive is seeking the owner of one lost Tommee Tippee – a blue elephant found washed ashore on Matakana Island amidst timber, plastic and metal debris from the Rena.
The soft toy is likely lost cargo from the ship which broke apart last week and had its stern section slip down the Astrolabe Reef on Tuesday, leaving most of it submerged.
Tommee Tippee needs his owner after being found ashore on Matakana Island.
Tomme Tippee was collected by SunLive reporters scouring the ocean side beach on Matakana Island.
He was found tangled and dirty, wet, cold to touch, and in need of human care.
Some traces of oil dampened his body.
He was brought back to the SunLive office where staff have taken him into their care and are cleaning and mending him back to full health.
The team can only do so much, however, as Tommee really needs the love of his owner for him to be fully restored.
If you are Tommee's owner, please contact SunLive via email at newsroom@thesun.co.nz
