A fire has completely destroyed a shed on Kaitemako Road in Welcome Bay.

The shed fire was well involved when firefighters arrived shortly after 2pm.

A Fire Service Northern Communications spokesperson says firefighters are still in attendance at the scene.

He says no-one was trapped in the fire.

'That's about all we have because of the industrial action, we're not getting much (information).”

A witness at the scene says there was a row of gas bottles close to the fire.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this stage.
