Plastic beads and dried noodles from the Rena have littered the Thames-Coromandel Coast, particularly in Tairua and Sailors Grave, north of Tairua.
A scattering of milk power bags is also washing up on shore as volunteers work to clear the region's beaches.
Beads have been washing up on shores in the Thames-Coromandel area from Rena.
The Thames-Coromandel District Council says the debris seen to date is non-toxic and reasonably easy to recover on beaches.
Regional council staff will continue to patrol beaches over the next few days to monitor the situation and respond to any problems in conjunction with Maritime NZ, Braemar Howells and TCDC.
'It's obviously concerning to see any debris coming ashore in our patch,” says regional on-scene commander Adam Munro.
'We will continue to work closely with Maritime NZ, Braemar Howells and TCDC to manage this situation and take appropriate actions if further debris and oil come ashore.”
A Braemar Howells spokesperson says debris, including plastic beads, timber and wheelbarrow parts are washing up over a wide area including Matakana Island, Waihi Beach, Pauanui and Tairua.
Members of the public who observe debris are advised to ring 0800 333 771.
Oil sightings should be reported to 0800 645 774.
