A snowfall warning is being issued for the Desert Road tonight.
Temperatures in the Bay of Plenty are starting to get a bit cooler with the MetService saying it is 16 degrees in Tauranga and 13 degrees in Rotorua.
Heavy showers, along with some possible hail, is being forecast for the region this afternoon.
The MetService says this should clear in the evening, with westerly winds hanging around.
"Brief snow flurries are likely about the top of the Desert Road between 10pm tonight and 2am Wednesday morning, but little, if any accumulation is expected."
An overnight low of seven is on the cards for Tauranga, while Rotorua is expected to drop down to four.
