A weekend long modern jive dance event in Tauranga has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Coast to Coast Weekender was set to take place on September 25-26 across several Mount Maunganui locations.

The event organisers took to Facebook on Tuesday saying due to the current situation they feel that it is in everyone best interests to cancel.

'Without a concise decision from the government on the levels for next week, we feel that we cannot go ahead with Coast to Coast 2020.

'Our main motivation is to make sure that our dancers stay safe and Ceroc keeps its good reputation as a safe place to come and socialise with great people.”

They are offering full refunds to those that have already paid for the event.

Coast To Coast 2021 is set to take place on Queens Birthday Weekend next year.
