A Bay of Plenty photographer has won a national award for wedding photography.

Photographer Justin Aitken has been named the Wedding In-Camera Artistry 2020 winner at the Nikon/NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards.

The NZIPP Iris Awards are New Zealand's national and biggest print awards competition for professional photography.

This is the fourth year in the row he has won a wedding category award, but Justin says he's as stoked as ever on the win.

The event was held online this year and live-streamed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Justin photographs weddings all over New Zealand, with the goal of documenting the day in a 'creative and fun” way.

"It's all about my couples. It's their day, and I'm just super grateful to be part of it. If I can bring a positive and fun energy to the environment while capturing everything that unfolds as creatively as possible.”
