Siena Ivamy from Pāpāmoa Primary School is being recognised for her leadership qualities with a 2020 BLAKE Young Leader Award.

Siena offers her time to support our community by being a road patroller and helping to take care of our school garden. She is a member of our student council and leads the school in ‘Jump Jam'. She gives up her break times to help junior students and volunteers to buddy with some of our ORS students.

Sponsored by Westpac NZ, this year's BLAKE Young Leader Awards celebrate 10 years of acknowledging young New Zealanders who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities within their school communities and inspiring those around them.

Around 350 primary and intermediate schools from all over Aotearoa are taking part in the 2020 programme which celebrates Year 5 to 8 leaders.

BLAKE CEO James Gibson over the last 10 years we have presented more than 3,500 young Kiwis with a BLAKE Young Leader Award.

'This year we're once again proud to present these awards to our up-and-coming young leaders from every corner of Aotearoa.”

Westpac NZ general manager of consumer banking and wealth, Gina Dellabarca, says the bank is proud to be helping young Kiwis reach their remarkable potential.

'These outstanding young leaders are already stepping up to the challenges and opportunities facing New Zealand,” Gina says.

'Our Westpac staff love seeing their talent and ability in action – whether it's leading projects, helping people in their community or finding creative new ways to do things differently.”

The 2020 young leaders are nominated by their schools and will be presented with a prize pack, certificate and BLAKE Young Leader Award Medal from Westpac NZ throughout September.
