Resurfacing works will take place in multiple locations around Tauranga this week.

These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty.

"Work will be undertaken at night to reduce the impact on motorists," says a Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency spokesperson.

"Delays are expected and motorists are asked to take extra care."

A 30km/h temporary speed limit applies to the following works.

-SH29 Kaimais, near the Tuakopai Stream Bridge, Monday 28 September from 7pm – 6am. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place.

-SH2 Bethlehem, eastbound merge ramp onto Takitimu Drive, Tuesday 29 September from 6pm – 5am. Due to site constraints, the ramp will be closed to all traffic with road users detoured through Cameron Road, and Elizabeth Street.

-Mount Maunganui, Newton/MacDonald Street Roundabout, Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October from 7pm – 5am. The roundabout will be closed to all traffic, with detours in place. Eastbound traffic from SH2 Hewletts Road will be detoured down Aerodrome Road and on to Newton Street. Westbound traffic from Golf Road will be detoured via Maunganui Road, Hull Road and Totara Street. The roundabout will be open during the day with a 50km/h temporary speed limit in place until the night works are completed.
