A person has been seriously injured after a vehicle fell off a transporter truck.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Maru St in Mount Maunganui about 1.15pm on Friday, a police spokeswoman says.

A spokesperson for St John has confirmed they were called to a workplace incident at 1.13pm.

"One ambulance and one Rapid Response Unit responded to the scene," says a St John spokesperson.

"St John treated and transported one patient in a serious condition to Tauranga Hospital."

WorkSafe has been advised.
