Community grants of up to $50,000 open next week

The fund will be open for applications from Monday.

Community groups looking for funding for one-off projects can apply to Tauranga City Council's new Community Grant Fund from Monday, September 27.

The $1.81 million Community Grant Fund recognises the significant contribution of community groups to the social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing of Tauranga.

'We look forward to getting this funding round underway and supporting our community to achieve their aspirations through a more robust and transparent process,” says Tauranga City Council Manager: Community Partnerships Anne Blakeway.

Grants of $10,000 to $50,000 are available for community groups with two funding rounds each year.

The Community Grant Fund is contestable and provides one-off support for specific projects.

The new fund is in addition to the current Match Fund, which provides small and medium grant funding of up to $10,000. Another funding round for the Match Fund will run later in the year.

The Community Grant Fund was established by the Community Funding Policy that was approved by council in July.

It replaces funding agreements that were previously allocated through the annual and long-term plan process. It provides a more consistent process for administration and distribution of the funds.

Applications for the Community Grant Fund close at 5pm on Tuesday, October 26.
