Some pregnant women have been transferred out of Auckland Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit after the parent of a baby there tested positive for Covid-19.

The parent of the baby in the unit returned a positive result on Sunday and movements in and out of the neonatal unit have been restricted since then.

In a statement, Auckland DHB Covid-19 incident controller Alex Pimm says a small number of expectant mothers have been transferred to other nearby maternity units for neonatal care as a precaution.

Meanwhile, the government will today release maps showing where the highest concentration of unvaccinated people live.

It has named October 16 'Super Saturday' for a big push in its vaccination drive.

Clinics will be open all day and into the evening and Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says civic and political leaders will be helping boost turnout.

The announcement was made after two of yesterday's 39 new cases of Covid-19 were located outside the extended alert level 3 boundary.
