Police are on the hunt from a driver who fled from them in Tauranga earlier this morning.

A police pursuit ensued after officers identified a vehicle of interest on Turret Road, hearing towards 15th Ave, shortly before 5.30am.

A police spokesperson says officers signalled for the driver to pull over.

'The vehicle did not stop.

'The vehicle was located a short time later, abandoned on 14th Ave, near Devonport Road.”

Enquiries are continuing to locate the driver.
