A positive case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in the Coromandel.
In a statement on their website Thames-Coromandel Distract Council state the positive case is currently in Whitianga.
The case is said to be isolated with a low risk of community spread. The person confirmed is double vaccinated and isolating.
'It's here and it will be in many more communities within a short period of time,” says District Manager of Emergency Management and Community Resilience Garry Towler.
'So up the work rate on personal prevention to avoid becoming really unwell.”
The news was first reported by Coromandel's CFM earlier today, stating that Waikato District Health Board has informed them the case is that of someone isolating in Whitianga having recently relocated from Auckland in compliance with border and travel requirements.
The case was therefore included in Auckland's case report for today but may be transferred to Waikato going forward.
There are also three new cases in New Plymouth confirmed today with links to Rotorua.
The Ministry of Health is encouraging anyone with symptoms, no matter how mild, to get tested.
Testing locations can be found on the Healthpoint website.
