Legacy Funerals announces vaccine policy

As the Western Bay of Plenty moves to orange under the government's new Covid-19 Protection Framework, Legacy Funerals have announced a new policy allowing only people with a My Vaccine Pass to enter a Legacy Funerals site.

Despite this new policy, Legacy Funerals will work with people to find alternative ways of delivering their services at other venues, or by using technology for uncertified people so they can still take part.

General manager Kiri Randall says the Legacy team remains committed to supporting families and providing a quality service to everyone in the community, regardless of their vaccination status.

"This has not been an easy decision for us, but our staff are our priority, so that we can look after our families well.

"It's important that we provide a duty of care, not only for our staff, but also for the people that enter our premises. We need to provide a safe environment and reduce risk where possible."

Operating at orange under the new traffic light system, Legacy Funerals venues will be certified vaccination-only and face coverings will be required at all times.

Legacy Funerals premises will also be deep cleaned after every service.

"While we do have this new policy in place to protect our staff and families, we want to reassure people that we are open to discussing their requirements and working with them to provide their funeral needs in the safest way possible, whether that is at a Legacy Funerals site or at an alternative venue.

"Legacy Funerals staff are professional and qualified in caring for the living and the deceased, no matter what the circumstances."

Legacy Funerals is available to help the community in their time of need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
