One new Covid case in Tauranga

The Ministry of Health is reporting one new Covid case in Tauranga today.

Today's new case is part of the 101 around cases around New Zealand being reported today.

The Ministry is reporting 61 people in hospital - 13 in North Shore Hospital, 19 in Auckland City, 25 in Middlemore, two in Waikato and two in Tauranga.

"Today we are reporting one new case in Tauranga.

"This case is being investigated for any links to previously reported cases. Contacts are being identified and will be contacted for testing and isolation advice."

*Today's cases

"Today, we are reporting new community cases in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Nelson-Marborough and Canterbury," says an MOH spokesperson.

"Both the Taranaki and Nelson-Tasman cases were first announced over the weekend but are being officially included in the case numbers today.

"One of today's border cases had previously been classified as under investigation. They have now been confirmed as a case."

Regional updates

"We are continuing to ask anyone in New Zealand with symptoms – no matter how mild – to get tested, even if you're fully vaccinated. Please remain isolated until you return a negative test result."

Auckland

Today, there are 97 new cases being reported in Auckland.

Health and welfare providers are now supporting 2746 people to isolate at home, including 709 cases.

Canterbury update

There is one linked case to report in Christchurch today.

The case is a household member of previously reported cases and was already in a managed isolation facility when they tested positive.
