Two arrested after shots fired in Mount Maunganui

Police have arrested two men in relation to a serious assault that took place in Mount Maunganui on Saturday afternoon.

Police were at the scene of the serious assault on Maunganui Road where it is reported by a SunLive reader that shots were fired from an airgun.

"Two men were arrested in relation to this," says a Police spokesperson.

"A 25-year-old is due to appear in Tauranga Court on May 20 on charges including assault with firearm or airgun, injuring with intent to injure, and careless use of a firearm.

"A 19-year-old is due to appear tomorrow [Monday May 16] for a breach of bail and injuring with intent to injure."
