UPDATE 1.07PM: Te Puke Highway is now open following a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the cras on the highway, near its intersection of Bell Road, at 10.40am.
The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the scene.
A police spokesperson says there are serious injuries reported as a results of the crash.
A Tauranga City Council spokepserson confirms the highway is now open.

"Te Puke Highway is currently closed between Welcome Bay Rd and Bell Rd," says a Tauranga City Council spokepserson.
"Traffic travelling between Te Puke and Papamoa is being diverted down Bell Rd to Parton Rd.

The road is likely to be closed for several hours."A police spokepserson says police were called to the scene, near the intersection of Bell Rd, about 10.40am today.
"Initial indications suggest there have been serious injuries.
"Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area."

A serious crash is being reported on Te Puke Highway.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLVIE news hotline says two vehicles appeared to have crashed on the highway, near the intersection of Bell Road.
Another SunLive reader has messaged us on Facebook to say there is a "huge crash by the Bell Road intersection".
"Helicopter, multiple police and ambulance are on scene."
According to Google's Live Traffic Reporting, traffic is stalled in the area.

Diversions are likely to be put in place soon.
