Eight people are reported to have been injured in a serious crash in the Waikato.
It happened shortly before 6am on State Highway 3 at Hangatiki, Waitomo, says a police spokesperson.
"The crash involved a single van and it's understood eight people are injured – two critically, two seriously, and four moderately.
"The highway is closed and motorists are asked to follow posted diversions."
