The Maketu boat ramp will be off limits while repairs are taking place.

The boat ramp on Beach Road will be closed for repairs from Monday, December 5, for up to two weeks (weather permitting), says a Western Bay of Plenty District Council spokesperson.

Council will be undertaking safety repairs and maintenance on the ramp.

"The tides during this timeframe are best suited to get the work completed," says the council.

"The nearest available boat ramp to use during this time is at Otaiparia Reserve off Ford Road or Bell Road Boat Ramp.

"We're keen to get these repairs done in time for the busy summer holiday fishing season, so please respect the temporary barriers in place to let our contractors get their job done as quickly as possible."
