Emergency services are responding to the scene of a motorcycle crash on State Highway 25.

"Police are attending a serious single motorbike crash with two riders on SH25 at Pipiroa in Hauraki district," says a police spokesperson.

"One person has critical injuries and one person has serious injuries."

Powerco are reporting that there has been a powercut with 299 Hikuai properties affected. The outage has been caused by a vehicle striking a powerpole.

The outage occurred at 12.06pm. Power is expected to be resotred by 4.15pm.

Waka Kotahi NZTA report that due to the serious crash, SH25/Tairua Road is closed between Tairua and Hikuai.

"Avoid the area or delay your journey if possible," says an NZTA spokesperson.
