Update, 1.20pm: Arataki Road at Whakamaru has re-opened following an incident earlier on Sunday morning where a man was found with injuries.

The man was found on Arataki Road at 4.45am.

"The man is now in a moderate condition," says a police spokesperson.

The road has been closed while police worked at the scene, with traffic diversions in place. The road has now been re-opened.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."

Earlier, 8am: Police are making enquiries after a man has been found with serious injuries on Saturday morning at Whakamaru.

The man was found on Arataki Road, Whakamaru at 4.45am.

"Police are working to understand how the man came to be injured," says a police spokesperson.

The road is closed while police work at the scene.

Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to expect delays or take an alternative route.
