Motorists are advised to allow extra time and drive with caution following a fallen tree across State Highway 25 between Coromandel and Whitianga.

"Due to a fallen tree east of Coromandel township, one lane is blocked with a priority give way in place," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

"Drive with caution through the area."

Coromandel's CFM is reporting nearly 200mm of rain has fallen on the Pinnacles in the last seven days with most of this in Friday's deluge.

"Rainfalls around the coast saw 120mm fall in several locations particularly Whitianga, Coromandel and surrounding places," says a Coromandel's CFM spokesperson.

"Road crews have again been working to clear slips and debris and have done a terrific job with both the Thames Coast Rd and Whangamata to Waihi section of SH25 all clear and open.

"The official advice is to take care as slips can still occur and crews are still removing the last of the weather related rocks and mud on the roads."
