A person is reported to have received moderate injuries after a truck crash on State Highway 1 near Taupō on Friday night.

Police received a report of a single-vehicle collision on SH1, Waitahanui at 11:45pm.

SunLive readers report that a freight truck crashed into the roadside barrier.

"There's stop and go traffic until they close it later today to recover the truck."

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise that due to the crash in the area, stop/go trafffic management is in place.

"Expect delays and pass the scene with care," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

The crash occurred 5km south of Taupō airport in Waitahanui.
