Prime Minister Chris Hipkins is scheduled to make a climate announcement in central Auckland just before 10.30am.

Tens of millions of dollars earmarked for government climate change projects are yet to be spent, with funding being rolled over.

Treasury documents show about a third of the initiatives in the $3.6 billion Climate Emergency Response Fund may not use all their allocated funding for this year.

On Monday, Hipkins announced wind farm projects in Southland, south of Auckland and Manawatū were being fast-tracked through consenting.

The Southland Wind Farm proposed by Contact Energy would have 55 turbines at a site east of Wyndham; Waiuku Wind Farm would see 18 turbines set up on the southern Āwhitu Peninsula southwest of Auckland; and Te Rere Hau Wind Farm would see nine turbines installed at Aokautere, south east of Palmerston North.

More to come...

Two Billion dollars

Posted on 08-08-2023 12:04 | By Let's get real

Two Billion dollars thrown into an unwinnable battle. When are we going to stop promoting our useless politicians into new jobs overseas using taxpayers funds...? Two Billion dollars, that could be used towards improving our own nation, is going to be cast into the wind, at a time when one nuclear weapon will almost definitely change the climate.
