A Matamata man has been named as the person who died following a crash in Sanson last week.

Police have today named 25-year-old Daniel Armstrong as the person who has died following a serious crash on State Highway 1, Sanson, on Friday, November 17.

"Daniel was initially transported to hospital in a critical condition and has since passed away from their injuries," says a police spokesperson.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

"An investigation into the crash remains ongoing."
