The Cameron Road/ Eleventh Avenue intersection will be closed to traffic at nights from 6pm Sunday, December 3, to 6am Friday, December 8 for work to resurface the intersection.

The closure is expected to be in place for five nights, weather dependent, and there will be detours in place.

From 6pm Sunday, December 3 to 6am Monday, December 4, the intersection will be fully closed to traffic.

This will mean:

  • Eleventh Avenue (west) will be closed at the intersection of Christopher Street and St Johns Street.
  • Eleventh Avenue (east) will be closed from Norris Street.
  • Traffic from Waihi Road wanting to travel south on Cameron Road will be detoured via Christopher Street to Thirteenth Avenue to Devonport Road.
  • Traffic from Waihi Road wanting to travel north on Cameron Road will be detoured via St Johns Street to Ninth Avenue to Cameron Road.

From 6pm Monday, December 4 to 6am Tuesday, December 5 and again from 6pm Tuesday December 5 to 6am Wednesday, December 6  - two nights -  there will a full closure of the southbound lanes of Cameron Road, between Ninth Avenue and Twelfth Avenue.

This will mean:

  • Southbound traffic (heading away from the city) will be diverted down Ninth Avenue (east) to Devonport Road, re-joining Cameron Road at Thirteenth Avenue (east).

From 6pm Wednesday, December 6 to 6am Thursday, December 7 and again from 6pm Thursday, December 7 to 6am Friday, December 8 - two nights - there will a full closure of the northbound lanes of Cameron Road between Twelfth Avenue and Ninth Avenue.

This will mean:

  • Northbound traffic (heading towards the city) will be diverted up Twelfth Avenue, via Christopher Street onto Eleventh Avenue and Edgecumbe Road.

Local residents, emergency services, and businesses will still have vehicle access during these night works. Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times.

"We ask road users to be prepared for delays during construction in this area," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"Please allow extra time and plan your journey accordingly."

This night work is weather dependent and if not completed between Sunday, December 3 and Friday, November 8 will continue on the following nights. The intersection will be reopened for use during the day.

I was expecting, rightfully or wrongfully, a really nice resurfacing job but it appears to have lumps and bumps everywhere and around TBC area and on same side as TBC is a sign warning of uneven surface. It's the new surface and it's absolutely appalling. Will probably need to be dug out and re-done unless they intend to do a patch-up job on it.

Huh?

What is all the yellow hatching for outside TBC.
I understand it's much needed use outside the fire station but it seems to be causing confusion and not needed outside TBC. Most are ignoring it anyway.
