A person has been pulled from the water in the Coromandel.

A police spokeswoman said ambulance and fire services were called to Whangapoua Beach just before 1pm.

Members of the public and ambulance staff were attending to the person, she said.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman directed queries to ambulance services.

Hato Hone St John has been approached for comment.
