One person is dead following a crash on State Highway 29.

"Police can now confirm one person has died in a crash on State Highway 29, Lower Kaimai," says a police spokesperson.

The two-vehicle crash happened shortly before 12:15pm today.

"A second person was critically injured, and a third had moderate injuries.

"The road has now re-opened."
