Update, 11.45am Motorists on State Highway 2 near Omokoroa are reporting that traffic is at a near standstill following a vehicle crash.

Emergency services are at the scene of a single vehicle crash where a car has gone down a bank off SH2 just after 11am.

There are no reports of injuries.

Motorists are advised to detour via Barrett Road.

11.30am Emergency services are responding to a vehicle crash on State Highway 2 near Omokoroa.

Police received reports of a single vehicle crash where a car has gone down a bank off SH2 at 11.04am.

"There’s been a crash on SH2 just before the Omokoroa intersection when you’re heading to Omokoroa from Tauranga towards Katikati," says a SunLive reader.

"The lane towards Omokoroa was fully blocked by ambulances and a fire truck.

"We took a detour via Barrett road - might be good to advise people to take that as well.

"You can take a left on Barrett Road for a small detour. That took us right around the traffic jam. Although the queue will probably be a lot longer now."

SunLive readers also report that traffic is at a standstill on SH2 near Plummers Point and Omokoroa.

Motorist are advised to expect delays.

There are no injuries reported at this stage.
