Next steps for major works at Cambridge Road Overbridge – Takitimu North Link Stage One

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising motorists that a section of Moffat Road between Tauranga Adventist School and Cambridge Road (East) will be closed from Tuesday, January 9 for three months, through to April 2024, as part of the Takitimu North Link project.

Traffic management measures will be put in place overnight on January 8, in order to mitigate significant disruption to travel through the area while this work takes place.

The work is required to complete the new Cambridge Road Overbridge, between Bethlehem and Tauriko, and involves digging out the existing road and realigning the road level to the required height, construction of the new pavement, and installation of footpaths, road signage, road markings and landscaping.

During this time all light vehicle traffic will be required to detour using Cambridge Road East to Waihī Road.

A diversion road is in use travelling alongside the main work site, please keep to the temporary speed reductions.

All heavy vehicles will need to use SH29/Takitimu Drive Toll Road which will be toll exempted for heavy vehicles only during this time, the exemption will be applied automatically through the electronic tolling system.

"Careful consideration has gone into recommended alternative routes for both light and heavy vehicles during the closure of a section of Moffat Road," says an NZTA Waka Kotahi spokesperson.

"Safety is our primary concern, especially for the residents in the affected area, including drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

"We encourage people to take the recommended routes as outlined in the map above, and to plan for additional travel time."

There will be temporary speed reductions in place while this work is undertaken.

"Please follow on-site traffic signage and instructions from our team."

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:

Orange lane, St Andrew's drive.
Must be same geniuses who removed all parking spots on Cameron road outside 16th ave cafe and Vinnies and traffic lights at 9th ave roundabout which worked perfectly and now delays everyone.

Excellent comment. You're absolutely correct. The removal of carparks on both sides is absolutely ludicrous and brainless.
A very busy Café, a very busy and popular restaurant, a very busy bike shop, Mama's Doughnuts, and a popular and frequented Op Shop, and they reduce it to 4 carparks total. What the heck!!!

Yeh sad that

The dairy shut its doors due to the ongoing roadworks. A dairy!! They pretty much never close unless they get driven out.
