Police are making enquiries following the robbery of a superette dairy in Brookfield on Tuesday.
Police were notified of a group of three youths that entered Brookfield Superette on Jude Place around 12.30pm.
A fast thinking customer who was arriving at the dairy at the time of the incident realised a robbery was taking place.
“I tried to stop the three offenders leaving by blocking the door,” says the customer.
“I was thinking do I wait here [outside] until it’s finished or shall I step in, and I was thinking what can I do to help the shop owner.
“There was a scuffle - they were trying to get past me. I went forward to try and reach for the phone and that’s when the other two went behind me and reached the door and told the other guy they were going.”
The shop owner says the customer who tried blocking the entrance was attacked and ended up with a bleeding finger and broken nail.
“She was attacked by them,” says the dairy owner. “The same three teenage boys came in on Sunday and tried to steal. They pushed over customers today.”
The owner says Police came and tried finding the teenagers.
“They ran away,” says the owner.
Police say staff searched the area but were unable to locate them at the time.
This is not the first time that the Brookfield Superette has been robbed.
In July 2016, a masked offender held a woman working at the Brookfield Superette in Jude Place at gunpoint. He demanded cash from the woman, who refused and accused him of using a fake gun.
In June, 2018, Police were called to the shop one evening after reports of an attempted aggravated robbery. A male had entered the store and presented a knife. The woman in the store had managed to secure herself at the back of the shop and was uninjured.
