The performances of many unique island cultures will engulf Katikati College as it hosts the Pasifika Festival in the Bay for the first time today, from 10am. Nearly 40 Bay of Plenty school groups will perform in traditional costumes, representing nations from all over the Pacific – including Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, Fiji and more.

The annual Bay Super Bowl and Fireworks Extravaganza at Baypark Speedway from 6.30pm tonight will showcase the best of speedway action to a family crowd. And the night closes with a massive fireworks display delivered by Van Tiel Pyrotechnics, which gets a revamp this year as it will be accompanied by the debut of a new lights show, courtesy of the stadium’s new LED lighting system.
