Greerton Village is now glowing and warming up with vibrant yarn bombing and enchanting lights as part of a winter transformation.

Cherry blossom trees along Cameron Road are adorned with colourful knitted and crocheted trunk sleeves, adding a cozy touch to the chilly season.

These artistic displays are complemented by outdoor sculptures from Greerton’s Art of Outdoors, featuring artful butterflies, dragonflies and pukehos – all made of steel.

“Some of the sculptures are hanging and some are attached to the trees,” says Greerton Village Mainstreet manager Mahia Martelli.

Starting near the Chadwick Rd/Cameron Rd intersection, 14 cherry blossom trees luminate the pavement along Chadwick Road, casting a warm glow, their trunks wrapped in lights.

Opposite the Greerton Library the village oak tree dazzles with large lit stars, symbolising the stars of Matariki.

“We want to bring a sense of vibrancy to the gloomy midwinter days and nights,” says Mahia.

Greerton Village is inviting everyone to experience the magic and warmth of its seasonal makeover, with the streets turning on a festive air during the day, and again at night.
