How refreshing it’s been to see the young man working at the Welcome Bay roundabout, acknowledging the passing traffic going through the temporary traffic lights with a mana wave. We have seen the reaction and smiles of the drivers, which in this day and age is a lovely thing. Therefore, he’ll be very much missed once the work has been completed, so surely a statue of him in the centre of the roundabout should definitely be on the cards.

If one is put there then it had best be made of really strong stuff....the first bus will take it out followed by an array of Tauranga's skilled drivers....maybe it should be placed alongside the no doubt ample cycleway, at least that way we need not replace it quite as often!!.....
