ND one-day tournament, day two

Rain late in the day saw the match in the ND one-day tournament encounter between Bay of Plenty and Hamilton decided by way of the Duckworth Lewis system.

Bay of Plenty batted first and were dismissed for 178 with one over remaining in their innings.

Bharat Popli, who shares the record for most Bay representative centuries, anchored his side innings with 49 runs off 57 balls.

The Bay were in trouble when Scott Steward entered proceedings batting at eight, with the Otumoetai Cadets batsmen posting a solid 41 runs.

Joe Carter got the Bay side away to a relatively good start with 29 runs at the top of the innings with Mitchell Satner the best of the Hamilton bowlers returning 2/16.

Following on from the first day, Bay of Plenty quick bowler Tony Goodin quickly had the opposition on the back foot, with a wicket with the first ball of the game.

The Waikato side worked their way back into the match.

The Match was evenly poised when the umpires called the match off in the 45th over with Hamilton 151/5.

However the mechanics of the Duckworth Lewis method of achieving a result awarded the match to Hamilton by a solitary run.
