Emergency services are responding to the scene of a single vehicle crash in Welcome Bay.

A SunLive reader says the crash has knocked out a powerpole near the intersection of Welcome Bay Rd and Waitao Rd.

"There's a big crash on Waitao Road," says a SunLive reader.

"The power pole is on the road, and there is big [traffic] congestion and all the roads are blocked."

"The whole hill is without power."

Powerco is reporting an outage to 215 properties in Welcome Bay.  Power is expected to be restored by 7.45pm.

"The car first crashed into the power pole, knocked it over, and then rammed into the barrier," says the SunLive reader.

"Police and fire brigade [are] at the scene."

Police say they responded to reports of a single vehicle crash where the car has collided with a power pole on Welcome Bay Road, at the intersection with Waitao Road around 4pm.

"It doesn’t appear there were any injuries. The road is partially blocked," says a police spokesperson.
