Secondary school tournament

BOP Lakeland took made up for their T20 loss on the first day of the ND Junior Secondary cricket tournament, being played in Manurewa, when they defeated Waikato Valley Plains on day two.

The Waikato Valley team batted first and were quickly dismissed for just 84 runs. Declan Keaney grabbed four wickets for just 9 runs with Rohan Gosai returning 2/9.


However the Bay side lost five wickets on the way to victory with Rohan Gosai top scoring with a gritty 36.

BOP Coastland just failed to chase down the Hamilton total of 213/7, when they were dismissed for 194, falling just 19 runs short of victory.

Sean Wakelin and Jamie Oakley both took two wickets apiece for Coastland, with Jamie Oakley and Connor Probert posting half centuries in the Bay sides turn at bat.

In the opening day T20, BOP Coastland won both their encounters defeating Poverty Bay and Waikato Valley Plains with BOP Lakeland defeating Northland and losing to hosts Counties Manukau.
