Totara St cyclist in serious condition after crash

5.25pm A person has been transported to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition, following a crash involving a cyclist at Mount Maunganui.

Totara St has now reopened following the two-vehicle crash involving the cyclist and a vehicle.

"Hato Hone St John was notified of a motor vehicle incident on Totara Street / Triton Ave, Mount Maunganui, at 4.01pm today," a spokesperson said.

"One ambulance responded and has transported one patient, in a serious condition, to Tauranga Hospital.

The road reopened at 4.45pm, Police said.

Earlier, 4.40pm: Totara Street is currently closed after a crash involving a cyclist.

“We’re responding to a two-vehicle crash on Totara St at the intersection with Triton Ave around 4pm,” a police spokesperson said.

“The crash involved a cyclist and a vehicle.

The road is closed and ambulance notified.
