Two tied results in T20

Two tied results and four successive sixes by a Te Puke batsman, took centre stage in the round three and four of the Lone Star T20 competition on Saturday.

Cadets took first use of the artificial wicket at Ferguson Park and reached 166/3, with Ben Christensen belting a crisp 68.

Te Puke stalwart Tai Bridgeman-Raison threw his bat at the Cadets bowling in a game that finished in the first tie of the afternoon.

The reply from Te Puke saw Bridgeman-Raison race to 38 including four successive sixes, with Steven Crossan top scoring with 47 runs.

The game went down to the last ball of the game with the scorebook showing that Te Puke also finished on 166 (for the loss of 6 wickets).

The second identical score came when both Greerton and Mount Maunganui were bowled out for 102 runs apiece.

Mount bowlers Daniel Hill (4/20) and Dale Swan (3/13) did the damage with the ball as Greerton posted what looked to be a modest target.

However the Greerton bowlers took charge to have Mount Maunganui dismissed for the same total of 102 runs, to post the second tied result of the early afternoon encounters.

There was jubilation in the camp of BOP Indians as they grabbed their first win of the season, when they defeated East Bay United.

After posting 139/8, the Indian representatives bowled the Eastern Bay side out for just 68. Defending champions Tauranga Boys' College rounded out the early afternoon matches chasing down Rotorua Centrals total of 115/7.

Tauranga Boys went on to be the only side to win two games on the day, when they beat Te Puke in their round four match-up.

Te Puke mustered 116/7, with Tom MacRury leading the way for the Tauranga students' eight wicket win with 63.

Central defended 149/7 against Greerton, bowling the home side out for 123 - with Cadets cruising to a easy win over East Bay United, losing just a solitary wicket on the way. Mount Maunganui also strolled to a comfortable victory against BOP Indians chasing down 108 for the loss of just two wickets.
