A person has been arrested and police are appealing for information to identify the remaining people involved in an aggravated robbery in Tauranga.

About 5.20pm on Wednesday, March 26, police responded to reports of a group, some armed with weapons (not firearms), stealing vape products from a dairy on Willow St, police said.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that the individuals then regrouped briefly on The Strand later.

“One person has since been identified and, today, police executed a search warrant at a Tauranga residential address where that young person was taken into custody,” police said.

“They are due to appear in the Tauranga Youth Court in due course.”

Police said they were committed to identifying the other people and holding them to account, as there was no place for violent offending.

“We need your help and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”
